On March 26th 2007, the Prime Minister agreed in principle to allow the establishment of Western Private University in Hau Giang province.
In April 2007, the People’s Committee of Hau Giang province issued a document to agree to change the name of Private Western University into Truong Vinh Ky University.
Then, in December 28th 2007, People’s Committee of Hau Giang province decided to change Truong Vinh Ky University into Vo Truong Toan University.
On February 18th 2008, Vo Truong Toan University was established under Decision No. 196/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister, under the Ministry of Education and Training, the school was assigned the task of training high-quality human resources with intelligence, bravery and creativity for the Mekong Delta in particular and for Vietnam in general.
Vo Truong Toan University aims to build a modern university with international stature in terms of scale and quality. 20 hectares in area were used to build a modern model – “University City” according to European style.
By 2030, Vo Truong Toan University strives to become a prestigious human resource training center in the advanced higher education system; raise the intellectual and professional level of the production workforce in the context of international economic integration; actively support the management and especially build a team of young qualified workers who can easily absorb technology transfer from advanced countries and international partners.
Currently, Vo Truong Toan University is training many majors in the fields of Health Sciences, Economics, Law and Information Technology at undergraduate and graduate programs. The school recently has diversified types of training to meet the needs of society; from training in a single type of full time, the school has also trained college to university transition program.
During the past, Vo Truong Toan University has always received valuable attention and assistance from the Ministry, Department and local governments. That is a valuable motivation in each step of the development roadmap of Vo Truong Toan University.
