The model of “University City” is reaching out to develop in the land of “Nine Dragons”, extremely honored and proud, named Vo Truong Toan – One of the first teachers of Vietnamese education. He is famous for being a great, talented, and erudite teacher who is always mentioned and honored by his descendants.
He was honored as “Thai Son Bac Dau” by Southern scholar-officials. Throughout his life, he lived an unblemished life without seeking fame and wealth, refused to become a mandarin, but devoted himself to reading, writing and teaching. He focused on teaching students to be a good person and talented.
He opened a school to train outstanding political, military, cultural and educational leaders in Gia Dinh at that time. Although the generations of scholar officials in ancient Gia Dinh did not directly receive instructions from Vo Truong Toan, they were all the students of the disciples, which were trained by him. All of them respected his virtues and thoroughly understood his books.
Vo Truong Toan’s profound educational philosophy for nearly 300 years still has its meaning intactly.
